About James Wanless, PhD and his Voyager Tarot
Dr. James Wanless is a futurist, international trainer and pioneer in intuition. He is a modern day alchemist who started life as a Professor of Political Science. Now, he teaches how to be whole, creative, sustainable and wealthy.
In 1985, after years of research on the tarot, James created his own deck, the Voyager Tarot, which he calls “The GPS of the Soul.” This deck is different from the old tarot decks, which were developed in the middle ages with knights and jesters. This deck is more current and understandable.

What is Tarot? What is a Tarot Spread?
Tarot is not a prediction tool. It is a tool to catalyze your intuition. These cards are meant to be used in navigating life.
A tarot spread can give you answers to questions you pose to your intuition or higher self. You center yourself, ask a question (making it as clear as possible), and pull a card from the deck. As James says, “You feel it and do it.” And, after you get your answers from your intuition, you act.
A General Tarot Reading You Can Do at Home
The tarot spread we are doing is simple. We want you to have an example of what you can do at home in just a few minutes. This gives you quick answers from your intuition.
So, you pick a card from the deck for each of these questions. For the first three questions, you pull from the whole deck. For the last question, you pull just from the 22 Major Arcana, or major archetypes, cards.
1. What is going on in the world?
2. How can I best navigate work?
3. How can I enhance my relationships?
4. What inner strength can I draw upon?
