Over the years, as pet psychics, we have learned what makes a difference in communicating with your pets. Beyond the animals we have met with private sessions, we have interviewed animals at the animal shelter to better understand their issues. We have talked with service dogs to see how they like their jobs and ask their preferences in an owner. We have met with dogs at the annual Canine 4K races of the League of Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS) in Frisco, Colorado. The stories these animals have shared with us have been invaluable in our learning what it is like to see the world from a very different perspective.

We now want to share with you what we have learned that you can do right now to communicate better with your animals.

The 7 Things to Help You Communicate with Your Pets Right Now!

We have found that a willingness to be open and listen are the essential ingredients needed when talking with your pets. They are so used to people brushing them off that they jump at the chance to talk with an open-minded person who is willing to look at the world through their eyes. There are certain things they want you to remember when you are attempting to communicate with them:

  1. Believe you can communicate with your pet. First, you must be open to the idea that animals can communicate with you and that you can hear them. Everyone wants to talk and feel heard. Your pets have things they want to tell you. Whether it is about their food, the number of walks they want to take or the bringing home of another pet, they have opinions.
  2. Relax and Listen. Next, you must be open to hearing absolutely anything. Simply listen. When you are flexible enough to entertain new possibilities, your animal will share with you amazing things. By opening your heart, you can expect the unexpected! So relax and be receptive, rather than be anxious and in a rush. You will hear more.
  3. Pets have a different perspective. Think about it – most pets are smaller than we are and closer to the ground. This means their perspective is different. At the very least, they see the world from a different physical angle. They also focus on what is important to them, such as food, walks, being patted, treats, health, etc. It is important to be aware of their bias when you are communicating with them.
  4. Pets communicate in pictures. Saying a bunch of words to them is like saying, “bla, bla, bla, walk, treat.” They have been trained to recognize some words, yet most words are just background noise to them. To communicate you need to flash them images, such as showing them the mental picture that you will return through the door when it is time for them to eat again.
  5. The longer the relationship, the easier it is to communicate. Adopted animals may take longer to communicate with you since they can have trust issues from a challenging history. Communicating with your pet helps deepen your connection and love. As you deepen your relationship with your buddy, you become a better companion yourself. The stronger the love and trust connection, the easier it is to communicate.
  6. Pets, like humans, have personalities. They have egos and emotions. Some animals are more ambitious than others. Some just want to have fun. When you treat them like unique individuals who have feelings, they immediately feel more understood.
  7. Pets have things to say. They have reasons for doing certain things, even though those reasons may not be obvious to you. They generally know what is good for them and what is ailing them. They will tell you what they want and where they are hurting. They can even offer perspectives on family dynamics that can help you heal your relationships. So if you listen to what your pet has to say, you might learn something useful!

If you have a pet, you already communicate with him or her on a daily basis. The level of communication varies with every relationship. Sometimes it is hard to hear what your pet has to say because the relationship is too close. There is history, and many emotions are involved. This is when pet psychics can translate some issues for you and open the communication channels.

When you are in a foreign country and don’t speak the language, a translator can be a godsend. Once you get a better feel for the language and the communication channels are opened up, it is easier to get your message across and hear what is being said. Let us know if we can help!

In our next article we will share with you a pet psychic reading, and you can pick up some hints on how to increase your pet communicating skills.
