In this series we investigate orbs, those spheres of light that can appear in your photographs.

As most of you know, we (Anne and Greg) are both hypnotherapists and intuitives (professional psychics). We have been meditating and honing our intuitive skills since the mid 1970s. We always welcome interesting intuitive experiences.

On a recent trip to New Mexico we stopped at the Pecos National Historical Park (http://www.nps.gov/peco). It has ruins of a Pueblo that dates back to 800 A.D. At this site there were kivas that the Pecos Indians used for social gatherings, rituals and ceremonies. We entered one of these restored underground kivas to see how it was built. As we started taking pictures there, orbs started appearing in our photographs in record numbers.

You can see from the pictures that you can barely see us, given all the orbs!

We were introduced to orbs earlier this year at a conference where our friend, Norm Shealy, M.D., was presenting. Since then, orbs have been showing up in many of our photographs.

Professional photographers have analyzed our photos to see if these orbs might be light refractions, dust or watermarks. The circles were none of these, but the photographers did not know what they were.

Our experience in photographing orbs has been as follows.

  • These orbs are not restricted to a specific place or time.
  • They are easiest to see when you use a flash.
  • You can also photograph orbs without using a flash.
  • The type of camera you use, and its filtering features, makes a difference.
  • Orbs show up in greater numbers when people are curious, such as at a museum or historical site.
  • They seem to show up most where you are open to seeing them.
  • Other people taking photographs of the same thing at the same time may have no orbs in their pictures.
  • At times, they will respect your request to refrain from appearing in your photographs.
  • When enlarged, you can see the orbs contain designs and colors.

What are Orbs? Since they have been showing up in our photographs this last six months, we decided to look at them intuitively.

According to our psychic insights, orbs are from a slightly veiled plane of existence just outside of our ordinary awareness. You could say they are from a different dimension, yet this could also be defined as a different frequency or vibration, which makes them harder to see with the naked eye. Their vibration is bleeding into our awareness through the aid of the digital camera technology.

Orbs have been there without our seeing them with our physical eyes, yet digital cameras make them more visible to us. Film cameras were not as sensitive to pick up their images.

  • Some orbs are beings visiting from the spirit world.
  • Some orbs are spirits who haven’t completely crossed over.
  • Some orbs are thought forms (balls of energy that were created by people thinking intense or repetitive thoughts).
  • Most orbs are simply curious balls of energy that seek out interesting experiences.
  • Some orbs seem to be willing to assist us in creating an interesting experience for ourselves.

These orbs can be as curious about us as we are about them. If we are curious, creative and interested in life, then we are interesting to them. If we lack natural curiosity or feel dull, then they can act as though they can’t hear us.

When we are curious, like a child, they seem to swarm around us like bees investigating someone who is wearing a fine floral perfume.

What can you do to get them to show up in your digital photos? Put out the request and have fun with it. Then, look closely at an enlarged photo on your computer screen to see if any of these orbs have shown up. If not, ask to be more open to seeing them, and be ok with having them in your photos. See what happens!

If any of you have your own orb stories or photos that you would like to share, send them to us. We would love to see them. If it is ok, we will share some of them in our next newsletter. Happy picture taking!!
